HyderabadI Chicken Dum Biriyani

Mix chicken in leftover cooked rice and flavored it with authentic Indian spices.

Recipe : HyderabadI Chicken Dum Biriyani Ingredients

  • 500 g Chicken
  • 4 cup Rice Basmathi long
  • 6 cup water
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Turmeric Powder
  • 6 Green Chilies chopped
  • 3 tsp Garam Masala
  • 3 tbsp Ginger Garlic paste
  • 100 ml Ghee / Saturated Butter
  • 1/2 cup Yogurt
  • 1 Lemon
  • 2 Onions chopped
  • 4 Tomatoes chopped
  • 6 Bay Leaf
  • 12 Cloves
  • 1 stick Cinnamon
  • mint leaves a bunch
  • 1 cup Food oil

Recipe : HyderabadI Chicken Dum Biriyani Step by step

  1. Clean and wash chicken and marinate it with salt, turmeric, chili powder, ginger garlic paste and set aside in freezer.Wash and soak rice in water.

  2. Now cut onions, tomatoes, and mint leaves.

  3. Now start with cooking rice in rice cooker. Add bay leaves, oil, cloves, and cinnamon. Add salt and keep the rice cooker into cooking mode.

  4. In a pan, add butter, garam masala spices and saute for a min. Now add onions and saute till they are brown.

  5. Add ginger garlic paste and saute for few minutes. Now add mint leaves, marinated chicken and let it cook for 10 min, add tomatoes.

  6. Add sufficient salt, chili powder, Turmeric, garam masala. Now we can see chicken is almost cooked and gravy thickened.

  7. Add curd and cook for 10 min slow the flame and add the cooked rice. On top of rice add ghee, lemon juice, and coriander leaves and cover it with a tight lid.

  8. After 10 min, mix the chicken gravy and rice together and close the lid till we are ready to serve.
